From the innocent mischief-maker of Gokuldham Society to a poised and charming young actor, Bhavya Gandhi—best remembered as Tapu from the iconic sitcom Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah—is stepping into an all-new chapter of his career.
At 27, the actor is all set to make his Bollywood debut with the film Kesari Veer, sharing screen space with veterans like Suniel Shetty and Vivek Oberoi.
Bhavya, who had earlier shifted his focus to Gujarati cinema after quitting TMKOC in 2017, has been praised for his performances in regional films. However, the buzz around his comeback into mainstream Hindi cinema is a nostalgic moment for fans who watched him grow up on screen.
The news broke after he attended a film launch event where he looked sharp, confident, and nothing like the little Tapu many remember. In a recent Instagram post, entertainment page Varinder Chawla shared a reel captioned, “Tapu bada ho gaya,” which quickly went viral, drawing heartwarming reactions from fans across the country.

Moneycontrol confirmed the debut, stating that Kesari Veer is a patriotic film, with Bhavya playing a significant role alongside Suniel Shetty and Vivek Oberoi. In his announcement on Instagram, Bhavya wrote, “My next! Kesari Veer - Dharam, Aastha aur Somnath ki Pavitra Bhoomi ki Raksha ka sangram. #HarHarMahadev.” The movie is set to release globally on 14th March 2025.
It’s a proud moment for long-time viewers of TMKOC, who are now watching a familiar face take on the big screen. The boy who once led the “Tapu Sena” is now ready to lead a new era of storytelling in Bollywood.
