Sooraj Pancholi faced a setback following Jiah Khan suicide case

Bollywood actor Sooraj Pancholi has recently made a huge comeback with the recently released film, Kesari Veer, which also stars Suneil Shetty, Vivek Oberoi in pivotal roles. Sooraj Pancholi had taken a break from acting after he faced some serious controversy in connection with the Jiah Khan suicide case.

However, the actor has recently reflected on the effect of the allegations, controversy, backlash and the legal battle that has left on his career and life.

In a recent interview with Screen, the actor recalled, “My equation with my family is better than ever now because there was a point in our lives where we couldn’t make eye contact with each other and speak because there was so much pain each one of us was going through.”

Sooraj Pancholi noted that things have changed now, and he and his family can look at each other and “smile at the past.” He also noted that the legal battle has brought him closer to his family.

The actor further admitted that people misunderstood him, but he expressed gratitude towards his family members who supported him during his hard time.

The actor further noted that ups and downs are a part of life, adding, “The trolling, the news, the bashing, being pointed at, not getting work, being pushed on the side, seeing other people go much ahead of you, everything gets to you. You have to be strong for yourself, there is no way out.”

For the unversed, Ghajini fame actress Jiah Khan was found dead at her Mumbai home on June 3, 2013, by her mother. Her then-boyfriend, Sooraj Pancholi, was arrested on charges of abetment to suicide.

The case was registered based on a six-page note allegedly written by Jiah, detailing her tumultuous relationship with Sooraj, son of actors Aditya Pancholi and Zarina Wahab. The note claimed Jiah experienced physical abuse, mental torture, and intimate relationship issues with Sooraj, leading to her suicide. Sooraj was acquitted of abetment to suicide charges in 2023.
