Producer Ektaa Kapoor has officially confirmed that the iconic television drama  is making a grand return with a much-anticipated second season. According to recent reports, original leads Smriti Irani and Amar Upadhyay are set to reprise their beloved roles, sparking excitement among fans eager to see what the new chapter has in store.

Smriti Irani, who became a household name as ‘Tulsi’ after the show premiered on Star Plus in 2000, quickly rose to fame. In addition to becoming a prime-time mainstay, the program enjoyed remarkable success for eight years.

Smriti Irani has reportedly been offered an incredible Rs 14 lakh per day for her role in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2, amid speculation about her eagerly anticipated comeback to acting. The producers, however, have not yet formally confirmed any information about her compensation.

Interestingly, her earnings during the show’s initial run were far more modest. As reported by Indian Forums, Smriti Irani was initially paid just Rs 8,000 per episode. Over time, her pay gradually increased—first to Rs 35,000 and eventually to Rs 50,000 per episode, reflecting her growing popularity and the show's soaring success.

Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi Season 2 will only have 150 episodes, according to the show's creators. Although the entire cast has not yet been revealed, rumours have it that Karishma Tanna might make a brief appearance. Indian Forums reported that Smriti Irani and Amar Upadhyay have already started filming under strict security.

It has been reported that Irani is receiving Z+ level protection on set. Strict protocols, such as taped cell phones and severely limited on-set access, have been implemented to ensure strict confidentiality.
