Aamir Khan's latest movie Sitaare Zameen Par has been doing good business at the box office. The movie, which released on June 20, has collected Rs 59.90 crore net in India in its three days run till now.
According to the trade website, Sacnilk, RS Prasanna directed movie Sitaare Zameen Par earned Rs 29 crore on Sunday.
The movie had collected Rs 10.7 crore on opening day, but it saw an upward trend in terms of collections on Day 2. And on Saturday it was an 88.79% jump and earned Rs 20.2 crore.
Post that on Sunday it saw an occupancy of 50.70% in Hindi on Sunday.
Sitaare Zameen Par is also close to beating Aamir Khan's last release Laal Singh Chaddha's lifetime collection, which was Rs 61.36 crore net in India.
Akshay Kumar’s Kesari Chapter 2 had done a business of Rs 29.5 crore in its first weekend. Sunny Deol’s Jaat did Rs 26.25 crore. Salman Khan’s Sikandar, earned Rs 74.5 crore by the first weekend, and Akshay’s Sky Force, did Rs 62.25 crore.
Sitaare Zameen Par is seen as the spiritual sequel to Aamir Khan’s 2007 superhit movie Taare Zameen Par, which had Darsheel Safary, who playe the role of a kid suffering from dyslexia.
Unlike his Ram Shankar Nikumbh role in Taare Zameen Par, Aamir plays a completely different character in Sitaare Zameen Par. In the role, he portrays Gulshan, a disgraced basketball coach who is ordered by a court to instruct a group of individuals who experience neurodiversity in the sport. Genelia portrays Sunita, his wife, in the movie.
