The latest episode of Shark Tank India 4 featured a touching and inspiring pitch by 64-year-old entrepreneur Champa, the founder of Krishna Sakhi, a business specializing in intricate jewelry for deities. Her journey, driven by devotion rather than just profit, captivated both the sharks and the audience.
Champa shared how her deep faith in Lord Krishna led her to craft jewelry for idols, which eventually turned into a successful business. Her handcrafted designs have gained recognition, with her jewelry even adorning the Radha-Krishna idol at the famous Banke Bihari Temple in Vrindavan. Seeking to expand Krishna Sakhi, she pitched for ₹37.5 lakhs in exchange for a 2.5% equity stake.
During the pitch, Aman Gupta asked how she felt about running a business at her age. Champa’s response was filled with positivity—she saw her work as a source of joy rather than a burden. The sharks admired her enthusiasm and dedication.
While they appreciated her craft, Vineeta Singh, Peyush Bansal, and others advised her to grow the business organically instead of seeking external investors. They believed her niche market would benefit more from steady, self-driven expansion rather than rapid scaling.
A particularly emotional moment came when Kunal Bahl expressed how much Champa’s story reminded him of his mother.
Moved by her journey, he admitted, “I want to invest in your business for this reason, but I’m not sure if I should.” Despite his admiration, he ultimately decided against investing due to concerns about the business’s scalability.
Though she didn’t secure an investment, Champa’s unwavering faith and resilience left a lasting impact. Her journey proved that age is no barrier to entrepreneurship when passion and purpose drive the business.
