Ramesh Bishnoi, the cousin of imprisoned gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, recently made headlines by asserting that the Lawrence Bishnoi community remains united in its support for Lawrence amidst escalating tensions related to the infamous 1998 blackbuck hunting case involving Bollywood superstar Salman Khan. Ramesh's remarks come in the wake of allegations suggesting that Salman Khan attempted to placate the Bishnoi community with financial offers, which they have categorically rejected.

In an interview with NDTV, Ramesh Bishnoi recounted a conversation with Salim Khan, Salman’s father, who implied that the Bishnoi gang's motivations were primarily financial. He claimed, “Salman Khan had brought a cheque book and encouraged them to fill in the amount they desired.” Ramesh added, “If we were truly in need of money, we would have accepted his offer.” This statement underscores the community's pride and refusal to be swayed by monetary compensation, emphasizing their deep emotional connection to the blackbuck, an animal they hold sacred.

The controversy surrounding the blackbuck hunting incident has its roots in long-standing grievances within the Bishnoi community. Ramesh described the overwhelming emotional response that followed the incident, saying, “Humara khoon khaul raha tha (we felt a burning rage).”

Ramesh insisted that while they chose to let the legal system handle the situation, any perceived mockery or disrespect directed at them was particularly infuriating.

Lawrence Bishnoi, currently incarcerated in Ahmedabad’s Sabarmati Central Jail, has been embroiled in numerous legal issues and has become synonymous with the threats issued against Salman Khan. The tensions have escalated in recent weeks, leading to serious security concerns for Khan. Reports indicate that the Navi Mumbai Police are currently investigating threats against Khan's life, following an alarming series of events, including gunfire outside his residence and a ransom demand of Rs 5 crore allegedly made by members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The threatening message warned that failing to comply could have dire consequences for Khan, drawing a chilling parallel to the fate of a recent victim, Baba Siddique, a close friend of Khan.

This feud illustrates the deep-rooted animosity stemming from the blackbuck incident, which not only led to legal repercussions for Salman Khan but also ignited a larger cultural conflict. The Bishnoi community feels insulted by what they perceive as Khan’s disregard for their values and beliefs, further entrenching the divide between the two parties. Ramesh’s statements reveal a community galvanized by their shared history and values, refusing to be marginalized or bought off.
