Retro Twitter Review: Suriya's fans call his performance 'brilliant, say movie is a 'masterpiece'

Suriya's much-anticipated film Retro debuted in theaters today (May 1), and it has already received positive feedback from fans.

Retro was directed by Karthik Subbaraj and produced by Stone Bench Creations in collaboration with 2D Entertainment.

Set against a backdrop of love, violence, and atonement, the film stars Suriya as Paarivel "Paari" Kannan, a man trying to move on while dealing with the consequences of his past.

Pooja Hegde portrays Rukmini "Rukku," Paarivel's wife, who is there in his life while he strives to distance himself from his past. The plot includes romance and adventure, and it takes place in several timelines and locations.

Santhosh Narayanan produced the soundtrack to Retro. The supporting cast includes Joju George, Jayaram, Karunakaran, and Nassar, among others. Santhosh Narayanan and Shriya Saran had brief cameo appearances in the film.

The narrative focuses around a mobster wanting to move on from his violent past and establish a new life, only to realize that old wounds and unfinished business still exist.

As hidden truths emerge and old adversaries reappear, his road to rehabilitation becomes more uncertain. Retro, which incorporates Kecha Khamphakdee's action choreography and moments that examine both inner and outside difficulties, blends emotional drama and stylish violence into a romantic action film.
