The parents of Renukaswamy, a 33-year-old man who was brutally murdered in June, allegedly by Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa and his associates, are devastated after seeing photos of their son’s torture.
The images, submitted as part of the Karnataka Police’s chargesheet in the kidnapping and murder case, have brought immense grief to the family.
Renukaswamy’s mother couldn’t bear to look at the disturbing visuals, while his father expressed profound sorrow, saying they are "washing their hands with their tears" and wishing that those responsible would feel the same pain his son endured.
The photos, accessed by the police, show Renukaswamy in the final moments of his life, begging for mercy during the assault. One image captures him shirtless, with visible injury marks and a terrified expression, while another shows him lying on the ground after being viciously attacked.
In their emotional plea, Renukaswamy’s father, Kashinath Shivanagoudar, recounted his son’s suffering. "Despite my son’s constant pleas and agreeing that he did wrong, they have tortured him so badly with no mercy. It causes me immense pain. Did they have no mercy whatsoever? They gave him shocks and tortured him, sparing no body part. Imagine how much pain he must have experienced. Thinking about this causes us a lot of pain," he told NDTV.
He called for the court to impose the harshest punishment on the perpetrators by saying, "We are washing our hands with our tears, and seeing these images has caused intolerable pain. I hope the court awards maximum punishment to the perpetrators and they face the same thing that my son went through."
Overcome with grief and anger, Renukaswamy’s mother shared her inability to view the haunting images, though her daughter had tried to show her. She questioned the lack of humanity of the perpetrators, "I didn’t see the viral photos, my daughter tried to show them to me, but I don’t have the patience or the strength to see it. Despite his constant pleas, they beat him up so badly. Are they even human?"

She condemned Pavithra Gowda, who is accused of ordering the attack. "If that’s the case, she should be punished. She will experience the same fate for doing this to my son" she said, struggling to comprehend the brutality her son faced.
