Veteran Kannada actor Harish Rai, who became well-known across the country for playing Khasim Chacha in the KGF movie, passed away on Thursday, November 6. He was 55.
The actor reportedly passed away after more than a year of fighting stage 4 thyroid cancer. Several celebs from the film industry paid tribute to the veteran actor.
KGF superstar Yash was spotted at Harish Rai’s funeral and paid his last respects. However, a video from the funeral is now going viral on social media. In the video, Yash is seen comforting the actor's distraught son.
The video has been shared on Instagram in which Yash arrived with his hands folded to offer his final respects. He sported a white shirt. The KGF actor was spotted standing next to his son Roshan after placing a large garland on top of Rai's glass coffin. Yash hugged the grieving boy close as he spoke and cried while sharing his emotions.
Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar confirmed the news of Harish's passing.
The Deputy CM expressed his sympathies on X and wrote, “The passing away of Harish Rai, the renowned villain actor of Kannada cinema, is an extremely sorrowful event. The film industry has become poorer with the death of Harish Roy, who was suffering from cancer.”
He added, “In films including Om, Hello Yama, as well as KGF and KGF 2, Harish had acted wonderfully and attracted everyone’s attention. I pray that his soul attains peace and that God grants strength to his family and loved ones to bear this loss. Om Shanti.”
For the unversed, Harish Rai had been in the film industry for decades and worked in Kannada, Tamil, and Telugu films. The veteran actor earned both critical acclaim and audience admiration.
