SSMB29: Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra starrer to be titled Varanasi, teaser in the making: Reports

Noted director SS Rajamouli is presently working on his next great movie, which is provisionally called SSMB29 or #Globetrotter, after the huge success of RRR and Baahubali. The movie stars superstar Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra and Prithviraj Sukumaran. It is already making waves because of its huge scope, overseas locales, and speculated title, Varanasi.

Teaser update:

There are reports that the SSMB29 teaser has already been filmed and is now in the visual effects stage. As per an article in M9News, a short trailer, which formally starts the movie's marketing campaign, will come out in November 2025. Insiders say that it has themes that are deeply rooted in Indian mythology, stunning landscape, and fast-paced action, all of which are things that Rajamouli is known for in his stories.

Varanasi set in Ramoji Film City

A massive set that looks like the holy city of Varanasi has been created at Ramoji Rao Film City in Hyderabad for roughly Rs 50 crore. The filmmakers decided not to film in real places to avoid problems with crowd control, even if important scenes take place in the old city.

The movie’s concept poster, which was released on Mahesh Babu's birthday in August, showed him wearing a pendant with the Nandi, Trishul, and Damarukam emblems, all of which are associated to Lord Shiva. This made many think more that Varanasi, which has mythological and spiritual ties, would be the name of the movie.

Global Reach and Big Goals

SSMB29 is presently being filmed in Amboseli National Park and Kenya's Masai Mara. More filming dates are planned for Europe and the Middle East. The movie was made on both fancy studio sets and real-world wilderness. It combines worldwide adventure with profound Indian origins.

Reports say that James Cameron, a director from Hollywood, would show the first look at the movie while he is in India to promote Avatar: The Fire and Ash. This would be a symbolic passing of the torch between two masters of visual storytelling, which would only make things more exciting.

SSMB29 is set to come out in more than 120 countries around the world on March 25, 2027. It will be the biggest Indian movie ever.
