Namrata Shirodkar marked her sister Shilpa Shirodkar’s birthday with a warm note that doubled as a celebration of family, nostalgia and a long-awaited comeback. Her post wasn’t just a birthday wish. It was a moment of pride, shared publicly, for a sister who has returned to the craft she once ruled.
She posted a cheerful selfie of the two sitting together in a car, both smiling in that easy way siblings often do when they’re simply comfortable in each other’s presence. In her caption, Namrata called Shilpa her first best friend and then went on to say what many fans have been echoing ever since Shilpa stepped back into the spotlight: this comeback feels right. It feels earned.
Namrata wrote that watching Shilpa return to the screen has been one of the most special parts of the year for her, adding that her sister’s determination, hard work and talent have always set her apart. She ended the message with an affectionate wish for Shilpa to keep rising, shining and doing what she loves.
The two sisters have always shared an easy, open bond. Namrata, the older one, is married to actor Mahesh Babu and often credits her family as her grounding force. Shilpa, married to Aparesh Ranjit, has also spoken about how important her sister has been through every high and low. Their social media posts often read like chapters of an ongoing family scrapbook filled with celebrations, inside jokes and sentimental captions.

Earlier this year, they shared a set of pictures on Valentine’s Day, choosing to celebrate sisterhood instead of romantic clichés. Shilpa had posted, Sisters are the glue that hold hearts together, and playfully told Namrata not to argue over the cheesy caption. Fans loved it, as they often do when these two appear together online.
Shilpa, who turned 52 on November 20, has had a remarkable journey in Hindi cinema. She made her debut in 1989 with Bhrashtachar alongside Mithun Chakraborty and Rekha, and soon became one of the familiar faces of the 90s with films like Hum, Khuda Gawah, Gopi Kishan, Bewafa and Sanam. Before stepping into Bigg Boss 18 this year, her last major film appearance was in MF Husain’s Gaja Gamini with Madhuri Dixit. Her return now carries a sense of homecoming, both for her and for those who grew up watching her.
