After weeks of speculation, rumours, and casting chatter, Sandeep Reddy Vanga finally got the much-anticipated Spirit rolling with a grand muhurat ceremony in Hyderabad on Sunday.
What added an extra spark of excitement for fans was the news that Ranbir Kapoor might appear in a special cameo alongside Prabhas—a revelation that has already set social media alight.
Megastar Chiranjeevi was the main guest at the star-studded, traditional launch that kicked off the first schedule.
Photos from the event captured moments of quiet reverence as the director and cast sought blessings before rolling the camera, marking the start of one of the most talked-about projects of the year.
According to the Deccan Chronicle, Ranbir Kapoor—who headlined Vanga’s blockbuster Animal—will appear at a pivotal moment in Spirit.
The report describes his cameo as a key turning point in the narrative and a moment that could be “historic,” given that Ranbir and Prabhas have never shared the screen before.
A source told the publication, “Ranbir will come into the picture at a crucial juncture of the storytelling. It will be a turning point in the plot and a historic moment in Indian cinema since he has never shared screen space with Prabhas." The prospect of these two megastars finally appearing together under Vanga’s direction has fans buzzing with anticipation.
During the launch, Chiranjeevi performed the traditional clap, and Vanga later shared his gratitude on social media.

He wrote, “Heartfelt thank you to our MEGASTAR CHIRANJEEVI sir for blessing the event with his presence. Sir….. your gesture is unforgettable — we all love you."
Triptii Dimri, who stepped in as the female lead following Deepika Padukone’s exit, attended the ceremony alongside Prabhas, Vivek Oberoi, Prakash Raj, and Kanchana. The ensemble cast adds even more anticipation for what promises to be a cinematic spectacle.
Although Prabhas could not be there in person, Sandeep shared a photo of him holding the clapboard, writing, “Dear fans… I thought PRABHAS anna’s hands were enough to EXCITE YOU ALL…… So on this muhurath day, I’m posting this for you — with gratitude and love. SPIRIT."
The film has been in headlines for months, particularly after Deepika Padukone left the project, reportedly over disagreements regarding an eight-hour workday.
She also later stepped away from Kalki 2898 AD 2, keeping conversations about casting and schedules in the Telugu film industry alive.
