Love can sometimes find you in the most unlikely places. For Naga Chaitanya, it began with a simple Instagram emoji rather than on a movie set.
Recently, the Thandel actor talked about his relationship with actress Sobhita Dhulipala, sharing the endearing tale of how their connection began on the internet.
Appearing on Jagapathi Babu’s ZEE5 talk show Jayammu Nischayammu Raa, Chaitanya revealed that social media played cupid in their love story. “We met on Instagram. I never imagined I would meet my partner there. I was familiar with her work. One day, when I posted about Shoyu (his cloud kitchen), she commented with an emoji. I began chatting with her, and soon after, we met,” he said with a warm smile.
The relationship has since blossomed into something deeply meaningful. In August last year, the couple announced their engagement, followed by a private wedding in December at Annapurna Studios—an emotional choice of venue, as it was built by Chaitanya’s grandfather, the iconic Akkineni Nageswara Rao.
On the show, Chaitanya spoke with affection and humility about his bond with Sobhita. He immediately said, "Sobhita, my wife!" when asked to name one thing he couldn't live without during a rapid-fire round.
He also talked about a humorous tale of their amusing miscommunication. “She was angry with me because of the song ‘Bujji Thalli’. It’s actually the nickname I have given her. She thought I had asked the director (Chandoo Mondeti) to use it in the film. She didn’t talk to me for a few days — but why would I do that?" he laughed.

The couple has been refreshingly open about their love, and how they make it work amidst hectic schedules. In an earlier Vogue interview, Chaitanya said, “We’re always looking for little pockets of time to squeeze in a holiday or chill together.”
Sobhita, too, spoke about what drew her to him: “He was clear-headed, even-keeled, and optimistic… The timing was just perfect. We love eating — and not just a little. We really bond over South Indian.”
Before finding love with Sobhita, Chaitanya was married to actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu. They tied the knot in 2017 and separated in 2021.
