The 71st National Award ceremony is set to take place on September 23, 2025, in Delhi, where several artists will be honoured with the national award for their achievements, including Shah Rukh for Best Actor and Rani Mukerji for Best Actress.
Ahead of the big event, actress Rani Mukerji was seen leaving for Delhi on Tuesday morning.
As seen in several paparazzi videos being circulated on social media, Rani gracefully smiled at the paparazzi as they wished her luck for the National Award event and smiled at them.
Before entering the airport, she further folded her hands and bowed, thanking everyone for their wishes.
Rani looked stunning in a beige Kurti and palazzo set with hair tied in a neat ponytail. She paired her look with a Christian Dior handbag.
The awards, announced on August 1, 2025, celebrated excellence in films released in 2023. They were delayed for two years due to the pandemic, but the excitement remains high.
Rani Mukerji will be receiving the National Award as the Best Actress for her stunning performance in Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway. Meanwhile, Shah Rukh Khan and Vikrant Massey will be honoured with the Best Actor awards for their films Jawan and 12th Fail, respectively.
This year's winners list demonstrates a wide range of talent and diversity across various genres and languages. Kathal: A Jackfruit Mystery won Best Hindi Film, and Vidhu Vinod Chopra's 12th Fail took home the Best Feature Film prize.
The event will be made even more prestigious by the fact that Malayalam superstar Mohanlal will be honoured with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, the highest accolade in Indian cinema, in recognition of his enormous contributions to the field.
In the directorial category, filmmaker Sudipto Sen stood out, securing both Best Director and Best Cinematography for his work in The Kerala Story. On the mainstream front, Karan Johar’s vibrant family entertainer Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani made its mark by winning Best Popular Film, along with Best Choreography for the energetic number Dhindora Baaje Re.

The music segment also saw some remarkable names being honoured. Shilpa Rao won the award for Best Female Playback Singer for her soulful rendition of Chaleya from Jawan. Meanwhile, the award for Best Male Playback Singer went to the track Premisathunna from the Telugu film Baby.
The ceremony will be held at New Delhi's Vigyan Bhawan at 4pm today.
