Ram Gopal Varma, renowned for his admiration of the late Sridevi, has once again stirred the pot with his candid remarks, this time regarding Sridevi’s daughter, actor Janhvi Kapoor. In a recent interview on his channel, Varma addressed comparisons between the two, stating emphatically, “I don’t see Sridevi in Janhvi yet.”
Varma, who collaborated with Sridevi on acclaimed films like Kshana Kshanam and Govindha Govindha, praised her unparalleled talent. Recalling her performances in movies like Padaharella Vayasu and Vasanta Kokila, he said, "She delivered a range of performances. Watching her act, I forgot I was a filmmaker and started seeing her as an audience. That is the range.”
The director suggested that the ongoing comparisons between Janhvi and her mother stem from a lingering "Sridevi hangover" rather than a genuine resemblance in talent or aura. When asked about the possibility of working with Janhvi, Varma didn’t mince words and said, "I liked the mother, not the daughter… I have no intention of doing a film with Janhvi.”
He clarified that his statement wasn’t made with malice but simply reflected his personal perspective.

Interestingly, Janhvi’s Devara co-star Jr NTR recently mentioned that during a photoshoot for the film, there were moments where she looked like the spitting image of her mother. However, Varma dismissed this notion, attributing such views to nostalgia for Sridevi’s iconic legacy.
Ram Gopal Varma is gearing up for his comeback project, a film featuring Manoj Bajpayee, marking a reunion with his Satya star. Meanwhile, Janhvi Kapoor, fresh off her role in Devara, has upcoming films like Sunny Sanskari ki Tulsi Kumari and Param Sundari in her slate.
