Reports reveal that Baahubali director SS Rajamouli is currently exploring potential filming locations in Kenya and South Africa for his next big project.

Mahesh Babu and SS Rajamouli’s highly anticipated project, known by fans as SSMB29 or SSRMB(working title), is stirring up excitement as new details emerged about the film recently. A report from Gulte stated that filming is set to start in January 2025, with Rajamouli currently hunting for ideal filming locations.

The script, which was reportedly completed after two years of development by screenwriter Vijayendra Prasad (Rajamouli’s father), sets the stage for an epic production, projected to cost between Rs 900 and 1000 crores. This ambitious venture is shaping up to be one of the most significant and awaited films in Indian cinema.

Mahesh Babu is confirmed to play the lead role, though the full cast and crew are yet to be finalized. Speculation suggests that Mahesh Babu's character in the film may be inspired by the Hindu deity Lord Hanuman.

Rajamouli is searching for global locations to bring this ambitious journey to life, drawing inspiration from James Bond films and the novels of Wilbur Smith for this globe-trotting epic.

In addition to filming on custom-built sets in Hyderabad, SS Rajamouli’s team is also scouting authentic locations to later recreate them with VFX. Reports hint that the film, described as an African adventure, is set in the Amazon rainforest.
