Mandy Moore has shared the heartbreaking news that her home was destroyed in the devastating wildfires that have been ravaging Los Angeles. The This Is Us actress has kept her followers informed through her Instagram Story, offering updates on her family’s safety as well as the tragedy unfolding in her community.
On Tuesday night, Moore revealed that she had safely evacuated with her children, dogs, and cats. She expressed her gratitude for first responders, posting, “Praying and grateful for the first responders.”
The following morning, Moore gave another update, writing, “Grateful for the kindness of friends that we had a place to land last night. Trying to shield the kids from the immense sadness and worry I feel. Praying for everyone in our beautiful city. So gutted for the destruction and loss. Don’t know if our place made it. #eatonfire.”
Later in the day, Moore shared a somber video, showing the vast destruction in her neighborhood. The footage displayed the smoke-filled sky and the aftermath of the Eaton Fire, which had destroyed her Altadena, California, home. “This is Altadena. Leveled. My sweet home,” Moore wrote in her post. “I am devastated and gutted for those of us who’ve lost so much. I’m absolutely numb.”
Moore’s heartbreak didn’t end there. In a follow-up post, she revealed that the wildfire had claimed more than just her home. “My children’s school is gone. Our favorite restaurants, leveled. So many friends and loved ones have lost everything too,” she said. “Our community is broken but we will be here to rebuild together. Sending love to all affected and on the front lines trying to get this under control.”
The A Walk to Remember star is among many in Los Angeles who have been forced to evacuate due to the raging wildfires. Other celebrities, such as Paris Hilton, Spencer Pratt, Heidi Montag, James Woods, Diane Warren, Cameron Mathison, and Ricki Lake, have also shared that they lost their homes in the fires, further underscoring the widespread devastation caused by these natural disasters.
