Popular Korean actor Yeo Jin-goo, known for his roles in Hotel del Luna, Hijack 1971 and others, is all set to start his mandatory military service this December.
According to a statement released on Monday by his agency, J Full Entertainment, actor Yeo Jin-goo has been chosen to serve as a Korean Augmentation to the United States Army (KATUSA).
He will start his 18-month service on December 15 in order to complete his required military service. The agency has also revealed that the actor will enter the training facility discreetly and without making an appearance.
The statement reads, “As the enlistment ceremony is a private occasion shared with other soldiers and their families, we will not disclose the specific location or time. We kindly ask fans to refrain from visiting the site.”
The statement added, “We ask for your continued support and encouragement until the day Yeo Jin-goo completes his service in good health and returns as a more mature individual.”
The actor has recently shared a handwritten letter to fans during the final performances of his 20th-anniversary Asia fan meeting tour, Blank Space.
The actor wrote in the letter, “While I am temporarily away from you, I will return as a stronger and more mature person. I promise to stand before you healthier in body and mind, and with deeper acting skills.”
