Kim Soo-hyun has recently been in controversy over his relationship with late actress Kim Sae-ron. Although Soo-hyun has confirmed that he was romantically linked with Sae-ron, he declined the reports that she was minor at the time.

The actor has also declined the accusations that he forced the late actress to repay a 700 million won (approximately Rs 4,19,43,503) penalty. However, Sae-ron’s family member has recently filed a complaint against YouTuber Lee Jin Ho accusing him of spreading false claims about the late actress’ past and her relationship with Soo-hyun.

According to a recent report by Soompi, Bu Ji Seok, the legal representative of Kim Sae-ron’s family, Kwon Young Chan, the director of the Korea Celebrity Suicide Prevention Association, and Kim Se Eui, the head of HoverLab Inc. attended a press conference held on March 17 at the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency in Seoul.

During the press conference, Kim Se Eui noted that the event marked the beginning of the first lawsuit. He also claimed that they would continue to pursue legal action from that point forward. He also reiterated the demand for Kim Soo Hyun to issue a public apology.

Kim Se Eui also wanted to file charges under the crime of murder, but due to legal reasons, they could only pursue defamation charges. They expressed hope that the court would acknowledge the causal link between the deceased's death and YouTuber Lee Jin Ho's dissemination of false information, leading to the strictest possible punishment.

The statement reads, “In our hearts, we wish to file charges under the crime of murder. However, as defamation does not fall under the methods of murder according to legal precedents, we regretfully hope that the fact that the deceased’s death is causally linked to YouTuber Lee Jin Ho’s dissemination of false information will be fully reflected in the sentencing, leading to the strictest possible punishment.”

During the press conference, it was also claimed that on March 24, 2024, Kim Sae-ron had uploaded a photo of herself with her ex, Kim Soo-hyun, after receiving a notification from his agency regarding debt repayment. She had hoped to contact him, but when he didn't respond.

However, YouTuber Lee Jin Ho allegedly denied the past romantic relationship between the deceased and Kim Soo-hyun and instead spread false information that negatively portrayed the late actress. The statement continued, “This caused the deceased to suffer extreme mental anguish, ultimately driving her to make an irreversible decision.”

Kim Sae-ron was found dead at her home on February 16. The police later confirmed her death as a suicide. Her death followed a drunk driving incident in 2022 that impacted her career.
