The latest episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati 16 was filled with emotional moments and thrilling gameplay. Contestant Nishant Jaiswal, who resumed his game as a rollover contestant, set the tone for the episode with his inspiring story and thoughtful gameplay.

Nishant’s journey began with a question for Rs 50,000. When asked by Amitabh Bachchan about the significance of the prize money, Nishant shared, “My father had a meager salary and dedicated everything to our education. Winning here would help me improve our lives.”

His question for Rs 50 lakh was: Which photographer, who clicked pictures of Gandhiji in real life, was played by Candice Bergen in the Oscar-winning movie Gandhi?

Options:

A. Homai Vyarawalla
B. Elizabeth Miller
C. Gerda Taro
D. Margaret Bourke-White

After using the Video Call a Friend lifeline, Nishant received little assistance as his friend was unsure. Unable to take the risk, he chose to quit, securing Rs 25 lakh. However, before leaving, he guessed option D, which turned out to be the correct answer.

Following Nishant, Shobha Devi from Raebareli, Uttar Pradesh, took the hot seat. Overwhelmed with emotion, Shobha teared up as she shared her story, and Big B offered her water and comfort. “I wiped your tears, and now you’re telling me you’re in the police? Hume thoda darr lagta hai,” he joked, lightening the mood.

Shobha revealed her humble beginnings and the sacrifices her family made for her education. Her
father ran a footpath shop, and her mother, who made mangalsutras, mortgaged her jewelry to fund their studies.

Rs 5,000 Question: What was celebrated from 22nd to 28th July, 2024, to commemorate the 4th anniversary of NEP 2020? Using the Double Dip lifeline, Shobha correctly chose option A: Shiksha Saptah.

She confidently answered the Super Sawaal, winning the Dugnaastra lifeline, which doubled her winnings to Rs 80,000.

Rs 1,60,000 Question: Who was awarded the Dadasaheb Phalke Award at the 70th National Film Award in 2024? With help from the Audience Poll lifeline, she correctly selected option B: Mithun Chakraborty.

Rs 3,20,000 Question: Whom did Lord Mountbatten succeed as the Viceroy of India in 1947? Despite little help from the Video Call a Friend lifeline, Shobha took a risk with option C: Lord Wavell, which was correct. Big B quipped, “Bahut badhiya tukka maara apne.”

As Shobha progressed, she shared her desire to dedicate her winnings to her mother, her biggest supporter. “She has sacrificed so much for us, and this is my way of giving back,” Shobha said.
Her journey came to a halt at the Rs 12,50,000 question: The ‘Copenhagen Criteria’ is a set of conditions to be met to join which organization? She decided to quit, walking away with Rs 6,40,000. Her guess, option D: UNESCO, was incorrect; the right answer was option A: EU.

After Shobha’s exit, Naveen Ahmed Sanadi from Belagavi, Karnataka, won the Fastest Finger First round and took the hot seat, promising more exciting moments in the upcoming episode.

This episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati 16 showcased not just intellectual prowess but also stories of resilience, sacrifice, and gratitude.

Nishant’s determination to honor his father’s efforts and Shobha’s heartfelt dedication to her mother touched the hearts of the audience, reminding everyone of the human stories behind the questions.
