Kalki 2898 AD director Nag Ashwin has responded to the recent controversy surrounding actor Arshad Warsi's comments about Prabhas' appearance in the sci-fi film. Ashwin expressed that while Warsi should have chosen his words more carefully, he understands and accepts the situation. He said that the "Munnabhai" star should have "chosen his words better but it’s ok".
Arshad Warsi's comments about Prabhas' appearance in Kalki 2898 AD had sparked controversy, with many of Prabhas' fans interpreting them as a personal attack. However, Nag Ashwin, the film's director, urged fans not to let the comments create a divide between the north and south Indian film industries. "Let’s not go backwards… no more north-south or bolly vs tolly.. Eyes on the bigger picture.. United Indian Film Industry, Arshad saab should have chosen his words better but it’s ok. Sending Buji toys 4 his kids," Ashwin posted on X in a reply to a handle.
The filmmaker said he would work hard on the sequel to the movie so that people say that Prabhas was the best in K2. "Too much hate in the world already bro.. we can try not to add to it I know Prabhas garu will also feel the same," he added.

In an interview with Samdish, Arshad Warsi expressed his disapproval of Prabhas' portrayal in Kalki 2898 AD. His comments sparked controversy and debate among fans of both actors. "Prabhas, I am really sad, why was he… he was like a joker. Why? I want to see a Mad Max. I want to see Mel Gibson over there. Tumne usko kya bana dia yaar. Kyu karte ho aisa mujhe nahi samajh mein aata (What have you made of him? I don’t understand why they do such things)."
Despite the recent controversy sparked by Arshad Warsi's comments, Kalki 2898 AD has emerged as a box office success, grossing over ₹1050 crore globally since its release in June. The film boasts a stellar cast featuring top talents from both the South Indian and Bollywood film industries, including Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Kamal Haasan, and Prabhas. The film is now available on Prime Video and Netflix.
