After declaring the Gaddar Telangana Film Awards (GTFA) for the year 2024 released recently, the Telangana government has made a landmark decision to pay tribute to the cinematic excellence of the close to past decade. Veteran actor and GTFA jury chairman Murali Mohan and Telangana Film Development Corporation (TFDC) Chairman-producer Dil Raju announced the winners for those films which hit the screens between June 2, 2014, and December 31, 2023, at a press conference.
Murali Mohan revealed that the committee has gone through each and every movie that was qualified by the Censor Board from June 2, 2014 (it is considered to be a historical date when Telangana was formed) and made analyses in-depth. Here, then, are nine such top-notch movies, three for every year, from this decade that truly showcased the changing face of storytelling, and the growing technical brilliance and emotional maturity of Telugu cinema.
Besides the main award for the best feature film, six other awards were awarded to Indian and Telugu cinema for Special Contribution while Aakash Ravikrishnan was the jury audiographer special.
The film started by remembering some of those deceased in the year gone by and even paid tributes to a late revolutionary poet, Kaloji Narayana Rao (who was a representative of the people in a cultural sense) by conferring a posthumous Special Jury Award on him.
