TV actress Kishwer Merchantt, who has been in the industry for a long time, recently posted a video of her son Nirvair performing Muslim rituals. The video, which is posted on Kishwer's social media handle, shows her husband and actor Suyyash Rai teaching prayer rituals performed by Muslims to their son Nirvair. The youngster is wearing a skull cap in the video.
Kishwer received a lot of hate comments on the video, and her son Nirvair was trolled for the same.
Kishwer, who is a Muslim herself, is married to Suyyash Rai (a Hindu). There were comments asking, "Will a Muslim ever even say the word "bhagwan" or "ram?". They consider it har**m. Will a Muslim ever go to a temple? Like, we still go to mosques."
When moneycontrol reached out to Kishwer about the trolling of her three-year-old son Nirvair, she told us in an exclusive telephonic conversation that she herself is a Muslim and offers prayers at a Gurudwara church. She celebrates all the festivals, like Diwali and Christmas, and her husband is a Hindu, so she had no apprehensions about her son learning about any other religion.
A look at the sweet video of her son with his dad:
Excerpts:
What is your reaction to your son being trolled for wearing a skull cap and learning Muslim rituals?
Kishwer: My only thing was that I found the video very cute, so I posted it. It wasn't supposed to be taken otherwise; ki Hindu hai Muslim rituals karva rahe hain. I think most people don't know that I am also a Muslim married to a Hindu. I have been a person; even though I am a Muslim, I go to a church, I go to a gurudwara, or temple. I do everything. I celebrate Diwali, Eid, and Christmas. You name the festivals, and we celebrate them. And I think, right from the time he was small, he has been seeing that. We celebrate Christmas at home, and my mother becomes a Santa. We have done all that, and then to get trolled for a cute video was just stupid. Those people are just brainless, and unka kuch nah kar sakte. I mean, they are just there to spread hatred."
Will this restrict you from posting such videos?
Kishwer: No, no. Why? Not at all, because if I find something cute or if I post,.
Kishwer further said that she is a Muslim but has given her son a Hindu name, and she wants to teach her son every religion as she believes God is just one.
"Even though I am a Muslim, I have given a Hindu name to my son, which makes them happy and proud, but him wearing the topi of a Muslim is making it all bad. Which is just disgusting. I literally feel pity for them because their thinking and their standards are so low. And you can't do anything about it because that is in their upbringing, I think. That's the way they have been brought up. I don't want my child to be like that, and that's why I am going to take him everywhere and make him believe that God is actually one," she ended her conversation.
Post the trolling and 'hatred' on her initial video, Kishwer accepted a collab from a fan showing how Kishwer, Suyyash, and their son Nirvaan perform rituals of all religions.
Kishwer keeps posting videos of her son and his cute moments with the family on her social media account.
Kishwer and Suyyash tied the knot in 2016 and welcomed their child, a boy, in August 2021.
