Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh has received a legal notice over the ticket sales for his upcoming Dil-Luminati concert in Delhi.

The Indian leg of the tour is set to begin on October 26, 2024, and fans in Delhi have been eagerly awaiting the event.

However, controversy arose on social media after the pre-sale tickets that went live on September 12 and got sold off in a few minutes, leaving many fans disappointed and frustrated.

According to a report by Free Press Journal, a law student from Delhi, Riddhima Kapoor, has sent a legal notice to the concert’s organisers after failing to secure a ticket. The notice claims that the organisers had announced the ticket window would open at 1 PM on September 12.

However, the passes reportedly became available at 12:59 PM, causing hundreds of fans to book tickets within minutes, while others were left without tickets as the window closed early.

Riddhima accused the organisers of violating consumer rights and engaging in unfair practices during the ticket sale process. She claimed that she specifically obtained an HDFC Credit Card to access early-bird tickets, but the abrupt closure of the booking window left her and many others without the chance to purchase.

In the legal notice, Riddhima alleged that the suspiciously fast sell-out of tickets indicated potential manipulation and scalping practices.

She argued that the organisers may have artificially inflated demand and manipulated prices, which she said constitutes an unfair trade practice under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019. Scalping and hoarding tickets with the intent to resell them at higher prices is considered a violation of consumer rights.

Amid the controversy, Delhi Police issued a warning against fraudulent sales of Diljit Dosanjh’s concert tickets. They shared a video featuring his popular track Born to Shine, using the lyrics to caution fans about online scams.

After his Delhi performance, Diljit is set to perform in cities including Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Pune, Kolkata, Bangalore, Indore, and more as part of his Dil-Luminati India tour.
