Shefali Jariwala, a model and television personality who gained notoriety for her breakthrough performance in the classic music video Kaanta Laga, tragically died on Friday night at the age of 42.

At her home in Andheri, Mumbai, she was discovered unconscious. She was rushed to Bellevue Hospital, but upon arrival, they pronounced her dead. After that, her remains were moved to Cooper Hospital, where a post-mortem will be performed to ascertain the precise cause of death.

While Shefali earned national fame with her vibrant presence in Kaanta Laga, her career spanned various mediums including television reality shows, music videos, and regional cinema.

Notably, she made a special appearance in the 2011 Kannada film Hudugaru, which starred the late superstar Puneeth Rajkumar. In the film, Shefali dazzled audiences with her high-energy performance in the dance track Pankaja, which quickly became a fan-favourite. The song, featuring vocals by V Harikrishna, Mamta Sharma and Naveen Madhav, added a lively flair to the film’s soundtrack.

Hudugaru itself was a successful Kannada remake of the Tamil blockbuster Naadodigal, and starred Puneeth alongside Srinagar Kitty, Yogesh, and Radhika Pandit. Shefali’s appearance in the film marked a brief yet memorable entry into Kannada cinema, showcasing her versatility as a performer beyond Hindi television.

As tributes continue to pour in for Shefali, many are remembering her not only for her talent but also for her vibrant personality and the joy she brought to screens across the country.

The entertainment industry now awaits clarity from the post-mortem to better understand the circumstances of her untimely passing.

Shefaki's sudden demise has left friends, family, and her fan base in utter shock, with many taking to social media to express their grief and disbelief. While early reports suggested a possible cardiac arrest, the Mumbai Police have clarified that the definitive cause of death remains unconfirmed pending autopsy results.

“Her body was found at her residence in the Andheri area. Mumbai Police received information about this at 1 am. Her body has been sent to Cooper Hospital for postmortem. The cause of death is not yet clear,” an official told ANI.
