Shefali Jariwala’s death: Cause remains unclear, Postmortem to reveal details, says Mumbai Police

The untimely death of Shefali Jariwala remains shrouded in mystery, as Mumbai Police await postmortem results to determine the exact cause. A forensic team has also visited her Andheri residence for further investigation.

The sudden death of Shefali Jariwala, a model and actor best known for her iconic appearance in the music video Kaanta Laga, remains mysterious.

Mumbai Police have now clarified that the precise cause of the 42-year-old's death is still unknown pending a postmortem examination, despite initial reports indicating she died from cardiac arrest.

According to reports, Shefali was found unconscious at her home in Andheri early on Saturday morning. At one in the morning, Mumbai Police were notified of this. Cooper Hospital will perform a postmortem on her body.

The police told ANI that the cause of death was still unknown. For additional investigation, a forensic team also went to the deceased actor's flat.

"Mumbai Police received information about this at 1 am. Her body has been sent to Cooper Hospital for postmortem. The cause of death is not yet clear" the cops were quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

According to the Bellevue Hospital’s reception staff, Shefali was already deceased upon arrival. Her husband, actor Parag Tyagi, accompanied by three others, rushed her to the hospital but sadly, nothing could be done.

In video footage now circulating widely on social media, a visibly distressed Parag was seen leaving the hospital, partially covering his face with his hand as he sat in a vehicle.

The tragic news was first shared on social media by journalist Vickey Lalwani, who wrote, “Shefali Jariwala, the Kaanta Laga girl, is no more,” sending shockwaves through the entertainment industry and fans alike.

At the age of 20, Shefali became instantly famous after appearing in the popular music video for Kaanta Laga, which went viral. She made an appearance on reality TV shows like Bigg Boss 13 and Nach Baliye, where she competed with her husband Parag Tyagi, and she was featured on a number of music albums over the years.

Prior to their 2009 divorce, she was married to Meet Bros. musician Harmeet Singh. In 2015, she married Parag Tyagi.

Tributes to a woman who carved out a distinct place for herself in Indian pop and television culture are still coming in as the industry and fans await official confirmation of the cause of her premature death.
