Deepika Padukone to reunite with Shah Rukh Khan in King, will play Suhana Khan's mother: Report

Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone is soon going to reunite with her Chennai Express and Jawan co-star Shah Rukh Khan on screen. According to a report in PeepingMoon.com, Deepika will be working with SRK in his home production King.

According to the report, Deepika Padukone will play the role of Suhana Khan's mother in the much-anticipated movie.

King, which is being directed by Siddharth Anand, has been produced by Marflix Productions and Red Chillies Entertainment.

Deepika will be seen in the role of a former lover of Shah Rukh Khan's character in the movie, which is being described as a revenge thriller. The report further suggested that Deepika Padukone's role is an extended cameo, but it is an important part of the plot.

The report also said that both SRK and Siddharth Anand were keen on casting Deepika.

SRK and Deepika have worked together in films like Chennai Express, Pathaan, Jawan, Farah Khan’s ‘Om Shanti Om’ (2012), and Chennai Express. All these movies were blockbusters. Deepika made her debut opposite SRK in Om Shanti Om.

Reports are that Deepika and SRK will work together in Yash Raj Films’ ‘Pathaan 2’ as well.

According to reports, SRK's ‘King’ is loosely based on the action thriller ‘Bichhoo’ (2000)which had Bobby Deol and Rani Mukerji in the lead. The 2000 film was an unofficial remake of the 1994 French film, ‘Léon: The Professional’ (1994).

It is being reported that SRK is likely to play the role of an assassin who embarks on a vengeance quest alongside Suhana Khan’s character after a horrific event upends her life.

Earlier, SRK's King was going to be directed by Sujoy Ghosh, but later Pathaan director Siddharth Anand stepped in as the new director.

King has been in the news for a long time, and there are reports that Abhishek Bachchan will play a negative role, while 'Munjya' fame Abhay Verma also features in a pivotal role.

The film is now in its pre-production stage, and the film is likely to go on floors next month in Mumbai. King is aiming for a 2026 theatrical release.
