Boney Kapoor has reached out to the Madras High Court with a heartfelt plea, hoping to protect a cherished piece of property once owned by his late wife, legendary actress Sridevi.
As per a News18 report, the producer has alleged that three individuals are falsely claiming rights over the Chennai farmhouse, which holds deep personal value for the family.
As reported by The Hindu, Kapoor explained that Sridevi had lawfully purchased the property on 19 April 1988 from a man named M.C. Sambanda Mudaliar.
The property originally belonged to Mudaliar and was divided among his three sons and two daughters through a mutual family arrangement in 1960 — an agreement that paved the way for Sridevi’s legal acquisition.
But in recent times, the situation has taken a troubling turn. According to Kapoor, three individuals — a woman and her two sons — are asserting heirship to the land. The woman claims to be the second wife of one of Mudaliar’s sons. However, Kapoor's petition notes a critical detail: she alleges to have married him in February 1975, but his first wife passed away only in June 1999. This, Kapoor argued, makes the alleged second marriage unlawful and the subsequent claim on the property invalid.
Adding to the complexity, Kapoor questioned the authority of a local revenue official who issued a legal heirship certificate to the trio. He has asked the court to cancel the certificate, calling the entire situation a “fraud” and appealing for swift legal resolution.

Justice N. Anand Venkatesh, after hearing the matter, has directed the Tahsildar of Tambaram Taluk to examine the case and deliver a decision within four weeks.
The property in question lies along Chennai’s scenic East Coast Road (ECR) and has served as a peaceful farmhouse getaway for the family — a place filled with memories of quieter, happier times.
Boney Kapoor and Sridevi were married in 1996, and her sudden passing in 2018 left a lasting void. Their daughters, Janhvi and Khushi, have followed in their mother’s footsteps, stepping into the world of cinema — Janhvi with Dhadak in 2018 and Khushi with The Archies in 2023.
