Esha Deol’s wedding to businessman Bharat Takhtani in 2012 was meant to be a celebration of love, but it also revealed a father’s quiet heartbreak.

As the intimate ceremony unfolded at Mumbai’s ISKCON temple on 29 June, Dharmendra, Bollywood’s He-Man, could barely hold back his tears during the vidai—the traditional farewell when a daughter leaves her parental home.

Hema Malini watches with a mixture of pride, love, and grief as Dharmendra clings to Esha, holding her close as if he didn't want to let her go.

Dharmendra finally lets his daughter start a new chapter in life by wiping away his tears in a particularly heartwarming moment. Their bond was evident in this gesture.

Along the way, Esha and Bharat welcomed their first daughter, Radhya, in October 2017, and then Miraya in June 2019.

After 12 years of marriage, the couple announced their separation in February 2024. Even so, the respect and connection between Dharmendra and Bharat remained intact, with Bharat visiting the actor during his hospital stay earlier this month at Breach Candy Hospital.

On 24 November, the world bid farewell to Dharmendra at the age of 89, just days before his 90th birthday.

In addition to leaving behind a legendary cinematic legacy, he also leaves behind a close-knit family consisting of Sunny, Bobby, Vijeta, Esha, Ahana, and Ajeita, as well as his wives, Prakash Kaur and Hema Malini.

With memorable roles in films like Sholay, Seeta Aur Geeta, The Burning Train, and Phool Aur Patthar, Dharmendra's career spanned more than 60 years.

The crowd fell silent as the crematorium rites concluded. One of the most enduring stars in the industry, Hema Malini, the wife of Dharmendra, was spotted leaving the crematorium with their daughter, Esha Deol.
