Sonakshi Sinha is glowing with newlywed joy, and a big part of that, she says, comes from the warmth and easygoing nature of her in-laws. In recent interviews, the actress opened up candidly about the dynamics of her married life with actor Zaheer Iqbal, especially the fun and unexpected moments that make their blended family work so beautifully.
Speaking with Bharti Singh and Haarsh Limbachiyaa, Sonakshi revealed that her decision to live with her husband’s family was entirely her own. “Zaheer had asked me before marriage if I wanted to live separately from my in-laws, but I said no,” she shared. “I told him, ‘I’ll live with them; if you want to go, you go.'”
She added with a laugh that this decision has proven to be a perfect fit, especially when it comes to the kitchen. “I don’t cook at all,” she admitted. “My mother cooks so well, and her only problem is that her daughter doesn’t know how to cook. My mother-in-law also doesn’t know how to cook, and she says that you got married in the correct house. She said, ‘Don’t worry, tu sahi ghar pe aayi hai (you’ve come to the right house).’ I’m fond of eating, but not cooking.”
Sonakshi described her in-laws as “very chill,” noting how closely knit and fun-loving the family is. That sense of togetherness extends beyond food or chores—it's rooted in mutual respect and understanding.
In another conversation on The Right Angle with Sonal Kalra, Sona was asked whether religion had ever posed a challenge in her relationship with Zaheer, who comes from a Muslim family. “In how we are as a couple, no,” she explained. “There are certain customs that he and his family follow, which I really respect, and there are certain customs that me and my family follow, which they respect. Religion is something that will never come in between the two of us.”
She also spoke fondly of Zaheer’s bond with her parents, Shatrughan and Poonam Sinha, revealing that her family has embraced him wholeheartedly. “My mom keeps asking ‘kya khayega,’ and my dad loves spending time with him,” she laughed. “When I enter the room, it’s usually the two of them talking while I sit quietly!”
