Known for voicing her opinions, Kangana Ranaut recently talked candidly about her Bollywood journey, which she feels is unique, at an event in Delhi.
The actress talked about how her upbringing in a small, unknown village influenced her career and made it much more challenging than most people realise.
During her speech, Kangana made a striking comparison between her story and that of Shah Rukh Khan. “Why did I get so much success? There is probably nobody else who came from a village and got such success in the mainstream. You talk about Shah Rukh Khan; he is from Delhi and convent-educated. I was from a village that nobody would have even heard of, Bhamla,” she said.
Her words quickly sparked discussion online, with many pointing out that both actors came from humble beginnings. However, Kangana faced a unique struggle that is frequently disregarded because of the difficulties she faced growing up in rural Himachal Pradesh, which is very different from the movie industry.
She also touched on a quality she believes has carried her through the highs and lows of the industry: honesty. “Maybe others may disagree, but I feel it’s because I am brutally honest, not just with people but with myself too,” she said.
The story of Kangana is one of perseverance and fortitude. Fame wasn't something she dreamed of growing up in Bhamla; rather, it came after years of feeling out of place and desiring more from life.
She made the tough choice to leave home and relocate to Mumbai as a teenager, following a dream without fully understanding its future. She got her first role at the age of 19 in the movie Gangster, which immediately made her famous.
She has established a niche for herself over the years, not only as an actress but also as a filmmaker and outspoken public figure.
