Polling for the third phase of the Lok Sabha elections in Mainpuri, Uttar Pradesh, has seen a 46.8% voter turnout in five hours, and in 2019, it was 56.67 % voter. Mainpuri is an important Lok Sabha constituency in Uttar Pradesh, doubling as the administrative centre of the Mainpuri district. The 2011 census recorded Mainpuri’s population at 136,557. Mainpuri constituency is composed of five legislative assemblies: Mainpuri, Bhongaon, Kishni, Karhal, and Jaswantnagar. Results will be announced on June 4.
During the 2019 General Elections, in the electoral battle featuring 12 candidates, the spotlight was on Mulayam Singh Yadav from the Samajwadi Party (SP) pitted against Prem Singh Shakya from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Mulayam Singh Yadav emerged victorious, securing the seat with 524,926 votes, while Prem Singh Shakya of the BJP trailed behind with 430,537 votes.
Following the demise of the SP stalwart his daughter-in-law, Dimple Yadav, won the by-election held afterward. She currently serves as the Member of Parliament from Firozabad and is also contesting the 2024 election from Mainpuri.
In 2014, SP's Mulayam Singh Yadav secured a comfortable victory in the election. Subsequently, after his shift to Azamgarh, Tej Pratap Singh Yadav succeeded him in a by-election, winning with a commanding majority. Tej Pratap Singh Yadav received nearly 65% of the votes, while the BJP trailed with 33%. This significant win further solidified the SP's position in Firozabad and highlighted the enduring support of the electorate for the Yadav family in the constituency.

As with other constituencies in the state, caste dynamics will be at play in Mainpuri. In the Mainpuri Lok Sabha seat, Yadav voters constitute a significant bloc, estimated at around 4.25 lakh. Following them, Shakya voters are estimated at around 3.25 lakh. Additionally, Mainpuri boasts a sizable population of Brahmins, approximately 1.10 lakh, as well as Dalits, numbering around 1.20 lakh. This diverse mix of voter demographics underscores the complex political dynamics of Mainpuri, with various communities playing crucial roles in shaping electoral outcomes.
