Business school XLRI Delhi-NCR on July 3 announced a significant increase in female enrollment constituting 30.7 percent of overall students in its new batch, a 25 percent rise compared to the previous year.
In terms of academic backgrounds, the incoming batch for Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management (PGDBM) programme 2024-26, presents a balanced mix of engineering and non-engineering graduates. Engineers remain the majority at 51.3 percent, while non-engineers have seen a notable increase, comprising 48.7 percent of the cohort.
Over 40 percent of students have professional experience exceeding one year, and one in four students boasts over two years of work experience.
"As we begin a new academic year at XLRI Delhi-NCR, we are delighted to welcome the incoming Batch of 2024-26. This incoming class represents a diverse spectrum of backgrounds and experiences, demonstrating our dedication to diversity and academic performance. The significant increase in female representation is indicative of our dedication to gender inclusion in higher education, which is a positive development for Management Education. Furthermore, the balanced mix of academic backgrounds, including engineers and non-engineers, shows a dynamic learning atmosphere rich in varied viewpoints,” said Fr (Dr) K S Casimir, Director of XLRI Delhi-NCR.
In January, the institute announced the setting up of the ‘Indian School for Design of Automobiles’ (INDEA), a school for automobile design in India in association with XLRI alumnus and automobile industry expert Avik Chattopadhyay.
The three pillars of INDEA will be balance of intuition and industrial knowledge; rich industry interface and, exposure to global thought and application, XLRI said in a statement.
INDEA will be offering various programmes, from a Master’s in Automobile Design & Management to refreshers for practising designers and inductions for CXOs. Seminars, master-classes and workshops will also be planned as part of the annual calendar. A programme in Automobile Restoration is also proposed.
