QS World University Rankings Asia 2025: Peking University Ranked First, IIT Delhi Tops Among Indian Universities

India's performance in higher education saw improvement, with IIT Delhi ranking 44th as the highest-placed Indian institution. Overall, seven Indian institutions ranked within the top 100. Notably, the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES) made a significant jump of 70 places to 148th, showing advancements across key research and academic metrics.

Peking University has once again secured the top position in the QS World University Rankings Asia 2025. This prestigious ranking assesses 984 institutions across 25 Eastern, Southern, South-Eastern and Central Asian countries.

The top four positions in the ranking remain unchanged from the previous year. Peking University, renowned for its strong academic reputation, employer recognition, and robust international student exchange programs, continues to lead the pack. The University of Hong Kong, National University of Singapore (NUS), and Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (NTU) maintain their second, third, and fourth positions, respectively.

Fudan University made a significant leap, entering the top five, while City University of Hong Kong climbed seven places to secure the tenth position.

Indian Institutions' Performance

India has made substantial strides in higher education, with two institutions securing positions within the top 50 and seven within the top 100. Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IITD) emerged as the highest-ranked Indian institution, claiming the 44th spot.

The University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES) demonstrated remarkable improvement, soaring 70 places to the 148th position. This significant leap can be attributed to improvements across nine out of 11 metrics, particularly in the International Research Network, Citations per Paper, and Papers per Faculty. India's overall performance is strongest in Papers per Faculty and Staff with PhD.
