Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur is inviting applications for the internship program ‘Students-Undergraduate Research Graduate Excellence’ or SURGE.

The program provides an opportunity to undergraduates and MSc first-year students of IITK, Non-IITK and also to the students of SAARC countries, for experiencing technical learning in their field of research.

The program runs under the aegis of the Centre for Continuing Education (CCE), IIT Kanpur and has been opened to UG students from Nepal and Bhutan. Besides, a small number of selected undergraduate students from top engineering colleges from all over India are allowed to explore research and experience the academic atmosphere of IIT Kanpur.

Online registration for the program will close on March 28, 2024. The program will start on May 10, 2024 (tentative) and will complete on July 12, 2024 (tentative).

To be sure, there is no registration fee for IIT Kanpur students. However, non-IIT Kanpur students have to pay a non-refundable fee of Rs 750. Once the list of selected participants is announced, candidates have to pay the administrative charges of Rs 3,000 (for IIT Kanpur students) and Rs 4,000 (for non-IIT Kanpur students).

It is important to note that during the entire stay of the internship at IIT Kanpur campus, boarding and lodging expenses will be borne by the concerned participants on an actual basis.

The objective of the SURGE Program is to develop the agenda of undergraduate research and promote the culture of research and interdisciplinary education among the new generation.
