In two separate incidents of partner violence reported on Saturday, a CRPF constable in Gujarat and a woman in Delhi were held for allegedly murdering their respective partners.
In Gujarat’s Kutch district, a 25-year-old Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan allegedly walked into the Anjar police station and confessed to killing his live-in partner, posted there as an Assistant Sub-Inspector. The victim has been identified as Arunaben Natubhai Jadav.
According to the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Mukesh Chaudhary, the accused, Dileep Dangchia, reportedly strangled Jadav to death after an argument turned violent. The two had reportedly been in a relationship since 2021, after connecting on Instagram, and were living together.
Dileep, currently posted in Manipur, had come to visit Jadav when the fatal altercation occurred. Police said that derogatory remarks made by Jadav about Dileep’s mother may have triggered the alleged act, as per a News18 report.
In a separate incident in Delhi’s Dwarka area, a woman and her lover have been arrested for allegedly killing her husband, 36-year-old Karan Dev. The police received a call on July 13 from Mata Rooprani Maggo Hospital in Uttam Nagar, where Karan was declared dead.
The accused, Sushmita, and her 24-year-old alleged lover, Rahul Dev, who is also her husband’s cousin, were taken into custody after police found incriminating social media chats between the two, allegedly plotting the murder.
According to investigators, Sushmita had allegedly laced Karan’s meal with over 10 sleeping pills on the night of July 12. Rahul later entered the house and allegedly electrocuted Karan using an extension cord.
Both incidents are under further investigation.
