Gurgaon reeled under traffic snarls and waterlogging on Monday as heavy rain lashed the city, bringing key routes to a standstill. NH8, Badshapur, Manesar and Sohna were among the worst-affected stretches, with long jams reported throughout the day.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had issued a yellow alert for September 1, predicting rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds in the afternoon and evening.

Videos shared online showed vehicles crawling through flooded roads, while underpasses and low-lying areas remained submerged. Commuters in Gurgaon faced severe delays, and traffic movement slowed to a crawl on major arteries.

Waterlogging has been reported in several areas of Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram, and parts of Delhi, resulting in severe traffic congestion.

Significant traffic jams have emerged on major roads, causing vehicles to move at a crawl in many locations. Commuters are facing challenges due to flooded streets, particularly in underpasses and low-lying areas.

The IMD has predicted another round of showers with thunder and lightning on September 3.
