Senior NCP leader and a veteran OBC Chhagan Bhujbal was sworn in as a cabinet minister in the Devendra Fadnavis-led Mahayuti cabinet on Tuesday morning at Raj Bhavan.

Bhujbal replaces NCP's Dhananjay Munde, a fellow NCP heavyweight who stepped down as the food, civil supplies and consumer protection minister in March after the arrest of his close aid in sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh murder case.

Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis, deputy CMs Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar also present at the Raj Bhavan.

After taking the oath as Maharashtra minister, NCP leader Chhagan Bhujbal said, "As it is said, 'everything is well if it ends well'. I have handled every responsibility, from the Home Ministry to everything. Whatever responsibility I'll be given, that will be alright. It's the prerogative of the CM."

Deputy CM Eknath Shinde called Bhujbal an experienced leader and said, "Chhagan Bhujbal has been a minister earlier also and has led various departments. He is an experienced leader. I congratulate him and the state government will greatly benefit from his experience."
