Indian cricket star Smriti Mandhana’s much-awaited wedding to singer and filmmaker Palaash Muchhal has been put on hold after her father, Shrinivas Mandhana, suffered symptoms of a heart attack on Sunday morning. The couple had been in the middle of their wedding celebrations, with friends and family sharing cheerful moments online for days, when the festivities came to a sudden stop.
The incident unfolded in Sangli, where Smriti’s father was rushed to Sarvhit Hospital and Medical Research Centre. Doctors confirmed that he had shown clear symptoms of a heart attack. Dr Naman Shah, Director of Sarvhit Hospital, said the episode was likely triggered by physical or emotional stress brought on by the hectic pace of the wedding functions. He added that Shrinivas is currently receiving treatment and remains under close observation.
What makes the situation even more striking is that just hours before he was admitted, Shrinivas was seen dancing with full energy at his daughter’s sangeet. A video from the event has now gone viral. In the clip, Smriti is seen dancing at the centre of the stage, while her father joins in with visible joy. At one point, Palaash steps in as well, and all three share a wholesome moment that now carries a different emotional tone. The video, once a memory of celebration, has turned into a reminder of how quickly life can shift.
In the days leading up to the wedding, social media had been buzzing with glimpses from the pre-wedding festivities. Photos and videos shared by friends and family showed Smriti and Palaash immersed in rituals, laughter and the warmth that surrounds a big Indian wedding. Those posts had already built momentum among fans, who were looking forward to the ceremony.

But the couple has chosen to pause everything. Smriti’s manager, Tuhin Mishra, confirmed that the wedding has been postponed indefinitely. He said Smriti doesn’t want to proceed until her father is back on his feet. Her priority, he stressed, is his complete recovery before any celebration can continue.
The family is now focused on Shrinivas’ health, while fans across the country send prayers and messages of strength. Moments like these have a way of cutting through celebrity gloss and reminding people of the fragile threads holding even the happiest days together.
