Nissan Motor India has revealed the name of its upcoming multi-purpose vehicle (MPV). The model will be called the Nissan Gravite and is scheduled to be launched in January 2026. The seven-seater MPV will be the first product to be introduced under the company's refreshed product strategy for the Indian market. It will be in showrooms by March 2026.
The Nissan Gravite was first announced in July 2024 as part of the automaker's product roadmap for India. It will be the second model in Nissan's planned product offensive. As per the timeline shared by the company, the Gravite launch in India will be followed by the introduction of the Nissan Tekton in mid-2026 and a new seven-seater SUV in early 2027.

According to Nissan, the Gravite has been developed with a focus on Indian family requirements. The MPV will offer seating for seven occupants. The company stated that the model will focus on cabin flexibility, modular seating and space utilisation to cater to both daily commuting needs and longer family journeys.
Explaining the choice of name, Nissan said the Gravite name is inspired by the word gravity, signifying balance and stability. The automaker said the name reflects its intent to anchor families through comfort, versatility and connectivity.

In terms of design, the Nissan Gravite will follow the brand's global design language. It will feature Nissan's signature C-shaped front grille, which is used across several global models. The MPV will also get hood branding and rear-door badging, along with a rear design that continues the C-shaped interlock theme seen on other Nissan vehicles.
The Nissan Gravite will be based on the CMF-A+ platform, which is also utilised by the Renault Triber. We expect similar powertrains, a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine (72PS of maximum power and 96Nm of peak torque) with 5-speed MT and 5-speed AMT options.

The Gravite will be manufactured locally in India at Renault-Nissan's Chennai production facility. Nissan said local manufacturing aligns with its strategy to develop vehicles for Indian customers while also supporting exports.
We expect the Nissan Gravite price in India to be between Rs 6 lakh and Rs 9 lakh (ex-showroom).
Alongside new product launches, Nissan is also expanding its dealership network. The company stated that it is expanding its presence across Tier I and Tier II cities to enhance accessibility and customer reach.
