The Tata Sierra takes on established players in the mid-size SUV segment. Key rivals include the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Maruti Suzuki Victoris and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder.

In terms of design, the Sierra adopts a tall and upright SUV stance. The front fascia looks solid. The side profile is clean. The rear is neatly styled. All lighting elements are LED. The SUV runs on 19-inch alloy wheels and features integrated body cladding. Inside, the Sierra uses a triple-screen dashboard layout. This includes a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen and a 12.3-inch passenger display. Other highlights include a JBL Black 12-speaker audio system with Dolby Atmos. A dash-mounted soundbar and ambient lighting are standard on higher trims. The Sierra also offers what Tata claims is the segment's largest panoramic sunroof.

Safety and technology features include Level 2+ ADAS. The system offers 22 functions. Connected car technology and several comfort-focussed features are also part of the package.

Tata has also released data from controlled tests conducted at NATRAX Indore. During a certified 12-hour run on November 30, the Sierra in Hyperion T-GDi petrol automatic form recorded a mileage of 29.9kmpl. In a separate high-speed circuit test, the SUV reached a top speed of 222kmph. Both figures were achieved under monitored conditions with trained drivers. Customer-spec vehicles, however, will be electronically limited to a top speed of 190kmph.
