The Tata Sierra has achieved a mileage of 29.9kmpl and a top speed of 222kmph in controlled tests conducted at NATRAX Indore. Both results were recorded under monitored conditions by trained and expert drivers as part of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles' evaluation programme for the SUV.
The 29.9kmpl Tata Sierra mileage figure comes from a certified 12-hour run held on November 30, 2025. The 1.5-litre Hyperion engine-equipped SUV was driven continuously from 7:00AM to 7:00PM, with only brief stops for driver swaps. The run, executed by the Pixel Motion team, has been entered into the India Book of Records for maximum fuel efficiency achieved in 12 hours. The closed-track conditions at NATRAX allowed the Sierra with Hyperion engine to operate within a stable, efficient band, supported by its combustion design, torque delivery and friction-optimised components.
In parallel, the Tata Sierra top speed test saw the SUV reach 222kmph on the NATRAX high-speed circuit. Tata has emphasised that this top speed is achievable only in controlled proving-ground conditions and not representative of public-road capability. The figure illustrates the maximum performance potential of the Tata Sierra Hyperion engine during supervised testing.
Tata has also issued an advisory stating that the Tata Sierra mileage and Tata Sierra top speed results were achieved exclusively under monitored conditions using professional drivers. Customers are advised not to attempt replicating these speeds or driving patterns and are urged to adhere to traffic regulations at all times. The company further confirmed that customer-spec Tata Sierra models will be electronically limited to a maximum of 190kmph, in line with internal safety protocols.
The Sierra offers multiple powertrains -- a new 1.5-litre Hyperion T-GDi petrol engine (160PS and 255Nm) with a 6-speed torque converter automatic, a 1.5-litre Revotron NA petrol mill (106PS and 145Nm) with 6-speed MT and 7-speed DCA, and a 1.5-litre Kryojet diesel motor (118PS and 260/280Nm) with 6-speed MT and 6-speed torque converter automatic. There are drive modes like City and Sport, and terrain modes like Normal, Wet and Rough.
The SUV is available in seven trims -- Smart+, Pure, Pure+, Adventure, Adventure+, Accomplished and Accomplished+. While prices for Smart+, Pure, Pure+, Adventure and Adventure+ trims range from Rs 11.49 lakh to Rs 18.49 lakh (ex-showroom), prices for Accomplished and Accomplished+ trims are awaited. Deliveries of the SUV begin on January 15.
Although Tata had announced that the official bookings for the new Sierra would open on December 15, select dealerships of the company have started accepting pre-bookings for a token amount of Rs 21,000.
