Hyundai Motor India has launched the 2026 Verna sedan with more than 25 feature and design updates, with prices starting at Rs 10.98 lakh (ex-showroom). The model continues to be offered with two petrol engine options and multiple transmission choices, while adding new safety, technology and comfort features. This is the first major facelift of the sixth-generation model, which entered the domestic market in March 2023.
The Hyundai Verna sits in the mid-size sedan segment and rivals the likes of the Volkswagen Virtus, Skoda Slavia and Honda City.
The updated Verna gets exterior design revisions including a black chrome radiator grille, dual LED projector headlamps, redesigned front and rear bumpers and 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. The sedan measures 4,565mm in length with a wheelbase of 2,670mm and a width of 1,765mm.
Inside the cabin, Hyundai has introduced several upgrades including a D-cut steering wheel, leatherette upholstery and electrically adjustable front seats. The driver seat now features eight-way electric adjustment with memory and welcome retract function, while the passenger seat gets four-way electric adjustment and an electric walk-in device. The sedan also adds a rear window sunshade and a smart trunk.
The infotainment and instrumentation setup includes dual 10.25-inch integrated displays, combining the touchscreen infotainment system and digital instrument cluster. The car supports wireless charging, ventilated front seats, smart key with push-button start and smartphone connectivity through Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Hyundai has also equipped the Verna with connected car technology offering more than 70 connected features and over 350 voice commands. Other additions include a surround-view monitor, blind-spot view monitor and an eight-speaker Bose audio system.
On the powertrain front, the Verna continues with a 1.5-litre MPi petrol engine, which develops 115PS of maximum power and 144Nm of peak torque and comes paired with either a six-speed manual gearbox or an intelligent variable transmission (IVT). The second option is a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 160PS and 253Nm, available with a six-speed manual transmission or a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
The sedan also offers drive modes (Normal, Eco and Sport), paddle shifters in automatic variants and idle stop-start technology.
In terms of safety, the 2026 Verna adds Hyundai SmartSense Level 2 ADAS with 20 features, a dashcam, rain-sensing wipers and a seven-airbag setup including a centre side airbag. The model also comes with electronic stability control, hill start assist control, ABS with EBD and rear parking sensors as standard safety features.
Hyundai said the sedan now offers more than 75 safety features, including tyre pressure monitoring system, electronic parking brake with auto hold and four-wheel disc brakes. The new Verna is available in six monotone colours and one dual-tone option, including two new shades -- Classy Blue and Titan Grey Matte.
