
Tata Motors today announced that the electric version of the Tata Sierra SUV will be launched in India in 2026. During the year, the country's largest electric passenger vehicle manufacturer will also introduce the new Punch.ev and the Avinya range of premium electric models.
At present, Tata offers electric models like the Tiago.ev, Tigor.ev, Punch.ev, Nexon.ev, Curvv.ev and Harrier.ev. The company has cumulatively sold over 2.50 lakh units of electric cars in India.
The Nexon.ev alone has garnered sales of over 1 lakh units, becoming the fastest electric car in India to reach this milestone. It entered the market in 2020.
In an official statement, Tata said that the Sierra.ev, new Punch.ev and Avinya range of premium EVs will be launched in India in 2026.
Tata recently launched the internal combustion engine (ICE) version of the Sierra, priced between Rs 11.49 lakh and Rs 21.29 lakh (ex-showroom). While Sierra bookings have opened, its customer deliveries will start on January 15.
The Sierra is available with three engine options. The first is a 1.5-litre Hyperion T-GDi petrol engine producing 160PS and 255Nm. This engine is paired only with a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The second option is a 1.5-litre Revotron naturally aspirated petrol engine. It develops 106PS and 145Nm. Buyers can choose between a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. The third engine is a 1.5-litre Kryojet diesel unit. It delivers 118PS and up to 280Nm, depending on the variant. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic.
The current Punch.ev sits in the price bracket of Rs 9.99 lakh and Rs 14.44 lakh (ex-showroom). It is claimed to have a real-world range of up to 290km on a single full charge. The Punch.ev has scored a 5-star safety rating at Bharat NCAP as well.
Tata will have around 4 lakh charging points in its network by 2027, including over 30,000 public fast chargers through Tata.ev open collaboration framework.
