Tata Sierra price for all variants revealed, ranges from Rs 11.49 lakh to Rs 21.29 lakh

The Tata Sierra is not only more expensive than its rivals at the lower end, but also comes with a premium at the top end.

Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles (TMPV) has revealed the price of all the variants of the recently-launched Sierra mid-size SUV. While the entry-level variant can be had for Rs 11.49 lakh (ex-showroom), the top-spec variant goes up to Rs 21.29 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Tata Sierra is available in seven trims -- Smart+, Pure, Pure+, Adventure, Adventure+, Accomplished and Accomplished+. During the launch on November 25, Tata had announced the price of only the base variant. Earlier this month, it put out the price of a few more variants. Now the price is out for all the variants across all the trims.

For reference, the Sierra has three engine options -- 1.5-litre Hyperion T-GDi petrol (160PS and 255Nm), 1.5-litre Revotron naturally aspirated petrol (106PS and 145Nm) and 1.5-litre Kryojet diesel (118PS and 260/280Nm). The Hyperion unit gets a sole 6-speed torque converter automatic, while the Revotron unit has options for 6-speed MT and 7-speed DCA. The Kryojet unit can be had either with a 6-speed MT or a 6-speed torque converter automatic. The SUV has drive modes like City and Sport, and terrain modes like Normal, Wet and Rough.

The official Tata Sierra bookings will open on December 16. However, select dealerships of the company are already accepting pre-bookings for a token amount of Rs 21,000. Customer deliveries will begin on January 15.

Among the major rivals of the Tata Sierra are the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Maruti Suzuki Victoris and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder. Here is how they stack against one another in terms of price range.

The Tata Sierra is not only more expensive than its rivals at the lower end, but also comes with a premium at the top end.

The Tata Sierra features an upright SUV body with a solid front design, a clean side profile and a styled rear section. Lighting is all LED. It runs on 19-inch alloy wheels, with integrated body cladding.

Inside, the SUV gets a triple-screen layout comprising a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen and a 12.3-inch passenger display, all integrated into the dashboard. The cabin also includes a dash-mounted soundbar with a JBL Black 12-speaker audio system and Dolby Atmos, ambient lighting and the segment's largest panoramic sunroof. The Sierra boasts Level 2+ ADAS with 22 functions, connected car technology and several comfort-focussed features.

Tata recently shared results from controlled tests of the Sierra conducted at NATRAX Indore. During a certified 12-hour run on November 30, the SUV, in its Hyperion T-GDi petrol AT guise, recorded a mileage figure of 29.9kmpl. In a separate high-speed circuit test, the SUV also achieved a top speed of 222kmph. Both performances were logged under monitored conditions with trained drivers. That said, customer-spec vehicles will come with an electronic speed limiter set at 190kmph.
