The Maruti Suzuki Dzire recently became the first sedan in India to achieve a five-star safety rating at the Bharat New Car Assessment Program (Bharat NCAP). The tests were done on the fourth-generation version of the vehicle, which was launched in November 2024.

Talking about the safety aspect of the Dzire, it boasts features like six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD), brake assist, hill hold assist, three-point seatbelt for all seats, seatbelt reminder for all seats and Isofix mounts as standard.

Moreover, the Dzire is based on the latest generation (fifth) of Suzuki's Heartect platform. The car's structure consists of 45% high-tensile steel. It also complies with all the pedestrian protection norms.

The sedan is available in four variants -- LXI, VXI, ZXI and ZXI+. The tests were performed on the base variant of the car, which is LXI. The aforementioned standard safety features, which are available right from the entry-level variant, helped the Dzire score a five-star safety rating.

The cars are assessed at Bharat NCAP based on their performance in three categories -- Adult Occupant Protection (AOP), Child Occupant Protection (COP) and safety assist technologies.

All models undergo frontal offset deformable barrier test at a speed of 64 kmph, side movable deformable barrier test at a speed of 50 kmph and side pole impact test at a speed of 29 kmph. Based on their performance, they receive star ratings on a scale of one to five.
