In a short span of five weeks, Renault has launched two updated models, the 2025 Triber MPV and the 2025 Kiger SUV. Both models are part of the company's India-centric 'renault. rethink' transformation strategy, under which the company will introduce two bigger SUVs in the future. We will talk about the upcoming models some other time. Right now, we are going to focus on the 2025 Renault Kiger facelift.
A lot has changed in the new Kiger. Renault has updated its exterior with a new nose, overhauled the lights (head, fog and tail) completely, added new bumpers and redesigned alloy wheels. The cabin is way more premium than before, boasting a new dual-tone dashboard, touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, and 3D Arkamys surround sound system, among others.
When it comes to safety, Renault has added 21 standard features, including six airbags and electronic stability control. The Kiger facelift now offers automatic headlamps, rain-sensing wipers and a multi-view camera as well.
If we talk about powertrains, no changes have been made in this section. The 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine (100PS and 160Nm) and the 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine (72PS and 96Nm) have been carried over from the pre-facelift model. The transmission options include 5-speed MT and X-Tronic CVT with the turbo petrol engine, and 5-speed MT and AMT with the naturally aspirated petrol engine.
The new Renault Kiger has been priced quite diligently to take on the likes of the Nissan Magnite, Tata Punch and Hyundai Exter.
While the 2025 Kiger comes in the price bracket of Rs 6.30 lakh to Rs 11.30 lakh, the Magnite is priced between Rs 6.14 lakh and Rs 11.92 lakh, the Punch between Rs 6.20 lakh and Rs 10.32 lakh, and the Exter between Rs 6 lakh and Rs 10.51 lakh. All the prices are ex-showroom.
Model | Price range |
2025 Renault Kiger | Rs 6.30 lakh - Rs 11.30 lakh |
Nissan Magnite | Rs 6.14 lakh - Rs 11.92 lakh |
Tata Punch | Rs 6.20 lakh - Rs 10.32 lakh |
Hyundai Exter | Rs 6 lakh - Rs 10.51 lakh |
All prices are ex-showroom.
In terms of size, the Kiger is similar to the Magnite, but bigger than the Punch and the Exter. Also, both Kiger and Magnite are offered with identical powertrains, hence you can have a turbo petrol engine option with the two SUVs.
The Punch and the Exter are smaller in size in comparison to the Kiger and the Magnite. The two SUVs come with a naturally aspirated petrol engine, with a CNG option.
With the Punch, you get an 88PS and 115Nm petrol engine, which can be paired either with a 5-speed MT or a 5-speed AMT. The CNG option (73PS and 103Nm) gets a 5-speed MT. The Exter's 1.2-litre petrol engine is good for 83PS and 114Nm with 5-speed MT and 5-speed AMT choices, while the CNG option (69PS and 95Nm) can be had with a 5-speed MT. You get twin CNG cylinder technology in both SUVs.
