India Yamaha Motor Pvt. Ltd started the 2012 Auto Expo with an announcement that they will be investing Rs 800 crore in the Indian market during the financial year 2012-13 as a part of network expansion, capacity expansion and product development. Gracing the Yamaha stall was Bollywood actor John Abraham along with senior management team of Yamaha.

Yamaha unveiled a prototype scooter called the Ray. Slated for launch later this year, Yamaha intends on wooing the female customer with this product. Also on display were the Xeon, Mio and Fino, three scooters from Yamaha's ASEAN market. Yamaha also displayed a limited edition model of the R15 in a fiery red color and also a 50th anniversary limited edition model. Both these models are priced at Rs 1.10 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi. Other than these, Yamaha had the YZF R15 version 2.0, FZ1, VMAX, FZ-S, Fazer, YZF - R1 50th anniversary special and Jorge Lorenzo's MotoGP bike YZR M1. Yamaha's commuters like the YBR 125, SZ series and Crux were also on display.
