Brazilian footballer Neymar da Silva Santos Júnior (also known as Neymar) is set to move from Barcelona to the Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) for 222 million euros in what will be the most expensive transfer of all time.
The 25-year-old Brazilian forward will earn 45 million euros a year (before tax), more than active football legends Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
The fee of 222 million euros is a 112 percent jump from the current record fee of 105 Euros paid by English club Manchester United to Italian giants Juventus for midfielder Paul Pogba.
In all, the total amount of money PSG will be spending on Neymar's transfer will be nearly 450 million Euros.
Before the Neymar deal goes ahead, here's a look at the current top 5 transfers in world football (figures in Euros):
Paul Pogba (105 million euros)
The 24-year-old French midfielder returned to Manchester United from Italian giants Juventus on a five-year contract in 2016. He had first joined Manchester United in 2009 but had left for a pittance of 3 million pounds after finding limited first-team opportunities.
Gareth Bale (100 million)
The 28-year-old Welsh winger started his career at Southampton FC at the age of 16. He joined Tottenham Hotspur in the following season for who he made 146 appearances and earned a name for himself. In 2013, he joined Real Madrid for what was then the highest fee.
Cristiano Ronaldo (94 million)
The four-time Ballon d'Or winner played for Sporting Lisbon in 2002 and 2003, before moving to Manchester United. He made 196 appearances for the Red Devils, helping them win the UEFA Champions League in 2008 before his transfer to Real Madrid the following year.
This transfer was the most expensive in history and was even criticised by then UEFA President Michael Platini, who called it "a serious challenge to the idea of fair play and concept of financial balance".
Gonzalo Higuain (90 million)
The France-born Argentine began his career in South American country's first division before making 190 appearances for Real Madrid between 2007 and 2013. He then scored 71 goals for Napoli in three seasons. Last year, he signed a five-year deal with Juventus for 90 million, making it the fourth-most expensive move of all time.
Neymar (88.2 million)
In 2009, he made his debut for Santos FC at the age of 17 in Brazil's primary football league. He then signed a five-year contract with Barcelona in 2013. He has made 123 appearances and scored 68 goals for the Spanish club.
