New York is the most popular city worldwide to do business in followed by Abu Dhabi, London, Hong Kong and Tokyo, says the Ipsos Top Cities Index 2017.
Globally, Delhi is at 40th position followed by Mumbai. As many as 60 global cities were considered for the Ipsos Top Cities 2017 study.
New York and Abu Dhabi are unparalleled as centres for business but scored less as places to live or visit. London and Tokyo have rounded profiles, scoring evenly across all dimensions, while Zurich and Sydney are the best cities to live in.
New York is the most popular city to do business in, with 23 percent of the global sample selecting it from the list. Abu Dhabi is second with 21 percent, followed by London and Hong Kong (both on 16 percent), and Tokyo (15 percent). Paris is seen as the best city to visit; 21 percent say it is one of the best destinations for tourism. Rome comes second on this measure with 20 percent, overtaking New York which scored 16 percent this year.
Zurich is the top destination to live in. Selected by 18 percent, it is narrowly ahead of Sydney – the city that also came second in 2013 – on 17 percent. Abu Dhabi has moved from the seventh to third on this measure over the same period.
Other cities that have made the cut include Rome, Los Angeles and Amsterdam. The cities at the bottom of this year’s ranking are Karachi, Nairobi and Tehran.
People from 26 countries across the world were asked which out of the 60 cities were the best places to live in, do business and visit.
Abu Dhabi was rated as one of the favourite cities by Indians followed by Singapore, Mumbai, London, Paris, New York, Delhi, Sydney, Los Angeles and Bangkok.
Given an opportunity Indians would love to live in Abu Dhabi, followed by Mumbai, Singapore, Delhi, London, Paris, Sydney, New York, Zurich, and Los Angeles.
